Our Integrated Approach Empowers You To Overcome Addiction and Put Your Life Back on Track
“Know Thyself”– In order to fight addiction, you must first discover the root cause of the problem. From there, healing is possible. At Crystal View Canyon, we believe in a integrated treatment plan that combines Western medicine and Eastern philosophy to restore balance to body, mind and spirit.
We Come From Families Of Addiction. This Is Our Purpose.
Who We Are
Our life’s work is to better understand addiction and to treat it effectively. Treatment protocols for addiction to date, while ever improving, are still failing many. CVC will use proven, empirically validated treatment as well as new and innovative ideology and techniques in order to expand and improve the field.
Dr. Shannon Dobbs, PSYD
Dr. Shannon Dobbs has a doctorate in clinical psychology. She is currently in private practice as a Clinical Psychologist in Agoura, CA where she specializes in treating adults utilizing a wide range of holistic orientations and techniques along with a psychodynamic approach that can provide every client with an individualized experience.
Since 2009 she has been working in diverse clinical settings including inpatient facilities for the chronically mentally ill, skilled nursing facilities with the aging, and clinics with children with special needs including spectrum disorders and behavioral issues. Her private practice focuses on individual, couple and family therapy.
Dr. Dobbs’ personal experience with family related addiction and recovery led her to focus her energy and passion on creating Crystal View Canyon Residential Treatment, together with Dr. Sharilyn Adams. This environment integrates her extensive knowledge and wide range of therapeutic experience, her dedication to her personal spiritual practice and growth, and her ongoing passion to learn and understand all that is healing.
Dr. Sharilyn Adams, Psyd
Dr. Sharilyn Adams, Psy.D. is a clinical psychologist specializing in treating substance abuse disorder and the common co-occurring mental disorders, such as anxiety, depression and traumatic stress disorders. Dr. Adams is also trained and educated in treating families of addicts and co addict dynamics. Dr. Adams is a skilled musician, a mixed martial artist and a lifetime student in english literature, religion, mysticism and esoteric philosophy.
Dr. Adams’ pre-licensure experience includes a two-year internship in residential treatment for addiction, working as a psych assistant in private practice and working in inpatient facilities for the chronically mentally ill. Dr. Adams worked closely with the late Dr. Harvey Mindess, Ph.D. where she was classically trained in early psychoanalytic theory, projective testing and humor psychology. Her passion for treating addiction has been a lifetime quest that has included her own personal experience in family addiction patterns. According to Dr. Adams, it is this personal experience in recovery that makes her most qualified to understand and know the mindset of the over all “family pattern” in addiction. It is this pattern along with a genetic neurobiological factor in the brain that creates the environment for the substance abuse disorder to develop.
“I have been in the trenches and come out on the other side and I can serve as an experienced guide to accompany others who dare to do the same. I am dedicated to serving addicted individuals and their families and to expand on the knowledge and understanding of addiction for those who are currently struggling, and for future generations to come.”
